17 Qualifying Medical Conditions
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has approved 17 medical conditions that will allow patients to qualify for medical marijuana within the state. The conditions that qualify to date are as follows:
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Autism
Cancer
Crohn’s Disease
Damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity
Epilepsy
Glaucoma
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) / AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)
Huntington’s Disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Intractable Seizures
Multiple Sclerosis
Neuropathies
Parkinson’s Disease
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain in which conventional therapeutic intervention and opiate therapy is contraindicated or ineffective
Sickle Cell Anemia
If you or a loved one are considering medical marijuana as treatment for one of the conditions listed above or have questions have a serious talk with your family doctor. Find out if your doctor plans to become certified to recommend medical marijuana to their patients. If they do not plan to do so ask if they can refer you to a doctor who is seeking certification.
