National Hemp Day
Today, February 4th is known as National Hemp Day!
Did you know that there is said to be over 50,000 uses for hemp and over 25,000 potential hemp products?
Hemp has been used by humans since the beginning of time. Researchers discovered traces of hemp in areas of what once was ancient Mesopotamia. These findings were said to date back to 8,000 BC.
In modern use, hemp and hemp fibers can be utilized to create almost every plastic based product that you use on a daily basis. These products when created using hemp are less detrimental to the environment and will breakdown overtime, unlike plastics. Not only can hemp be used to create everyday products such as paper, straws, cups, boxes, etc., but it can also be used as a building material.
Hempcrete, one of the many uses of hemp, is said to be some of the soundest and most energy efficient materials. Hempcrete is said to be wind resistant, fire resistant, mold and pest resistant and virtually soundproof.
How are you using hemp in your daily life? If you are not using it, what is stopping you?
